WHO ARE WE?

Bill Farish

Bill Farish - Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Bill Farish is the founder of Woodford Racing. In addition to his duties with Woodford Racing, Bill manages the daily operations of Lane's End Farm. Bill is the Chairman of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. Bill is a 1987 graduate of the University of Virginia. He was the personal assistant to George H. W. Bush and has worked in banking. Bill is also chairman of the Horse PAC Committee and is active on the boards of the Markey Cancer Center Foundation, The Jockey Club, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders' Association, The Blood-Horse, The Kentucky Thoroughbred Association, the Keeneland Association and the University of Kentucky.

Bill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Farish. Mr. Farish has served as Chairman of the Board of Churchill Downs, has been a Steward and Vice Chairman of the Jockey Club, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Breeders' Cup and has been on the Board of Director's of the Keeneland Association. In 2001, Mr. Farish was appointed by President George W. Bush as the United States Ambassador to the Court of Saint James and served in that role for three years. In 2006, Mr. Farish was appointed a Trustee to the Keeneland Association. In 2010, Mr. Farish was awarded with the Eclipse Award of Merit for his lifetime of service in the Thoroughbred industry. In addition, Mr. Farish has twice been awarded an Eclipse Award as the Leading Breeder in North America.

Ben Haggin - Chief Operating Officer


Ben Haggin has been involved with Woodford Racing since 2005. Ben is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Woodberry Forest School. Ben has worked in nearly every facet of the Thoroughbred industry. He has worked for Mill Ridge Far, Hall of Fame Trainer Ron McAnally and Equibase Company. Ben was an original employee of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Ben has served on the Board of the Race for Education and the Thoroughbred Club of America. Ben is active on the boards of The Saratoga Reading Rooms, Sayre School and High Street YMCA both in Lexington, Kentuck

Ben is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lee Haggin III. Mr. Haggin is a member of the Jockey Club and is a Trustee of the Keeneland Association. Ben's great-grandfather, Hal Price Headley, was a founder of the Keeneland Association.

David Ingordo - Bloodstock

At the age of 29, David Ingordo purchased ZENYATTA for $60,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for clients Jerry and Ann Moss. ZENYATTA  has become known as one of the greatest racehorses in North American racing history. During her marvelous career, ZENYATTA won of 19 of 20 races including 12 Grade 1 races, won the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), earned three Eclipse Awards as Champion Older Mare and was named 2010 Horse of the Year.

In 2010, in addition to ZENYATTA, David purchased five other North American Grade 1 stakes winners including: UNCLE MO, SWITCH, MONA DE MOMMA, MAJESTICPERFECTION and SWITCH. So far in 2011, Ingordo counts three Grade 1 winners, SWITCH, ZAZU and NEREID, a Grade 2 winner, NO ADVANTAGE and two Grade 3 winners, WHERE'S STERLING and TANDA, to his credit

David decided to pursue a career in the Thoroughbred industry after watching Sunday Silence win the 1989 Kentucky Derby. David's late father, Jerry Ingordo, was the agent for Sunday Silence's jockey, Patrick Valenzuela. David started working at the racetrack at age 14 for Hall of Fame Trainer Bobby Frankel. David's mother, Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, served as Frankel's business manager and has been the racing manager for Jerry and Ann Moss since 1984.

Neil J. Howard - East Coast Trainer

Since going to work for William S. Farish's Lane's End Farm in 1984, Neil J. Howard has developed a long list of stakes-winning horses. One of the top horses he has trained was MINESHAFT, whose seven stakes victories in 2003 included the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1), Woodward (G1), Suburban (G1) and Pimlico Special (G1). MINESHAFT earned Eclipse Awards as Horse of the Year and champion older male.

In addition to MINESHAFT, Neil Howard has trained many other significant horses including: SUMMER SQUALL, winner of the 1990 Preakness (G1) and BlueGrass (G2), SHADOW CAST, winner of the 2005 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1), AMERICA ALIVE, winner of the 2005 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (G1), SECRET STATUS, winner of the 2000 Kentucky Oaks (G1), RUNUP THE COLORS, winner of the 1997 Alabama Stakes (G1) and PROSPECTORS DELITE, winner of the 1992 Ashland Stakes (G1).

John Shirreffs - West Coast Trainer

John Shirreffs trained 2010 Horse of the Year ZENYATTA, winner of the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic and runner-up by a head in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic, the only blemish in her remarkable 20 race career. She was also honored as 2010's champion older filly or mare, and Shirreffs was part of Team ZENYATTA which was awarded a Special Eclipse Award in 2010 for their contributions to the sport of Thoroughbred racing. Shirreffs made Breeders' Cup history in 2009 when he became the first trainer to saddle the winners of the Ladies' Classic with Pam and Marty Wygods LIFE IS SWEET and the Breeders' Cup Classic with the then-undefeated ZENYATTA, the first mare to win the Classic. 

In addition to ZENYATTA and LIFE IS SWEET, John Shirreffs has also trained many other significant horses including: GIACOMO, winner of the 2005 Kentucky Derby (G1), ZARDANA, defeated reigning Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra in the 2010 New Orleans Ladies Stakes, HARMONIOUS, winner of the 2010 American Oaks (G1), NEKO BAY, winner of the 2010 San Pasqual Handicap (G2), TIAGO, winner of the 2007 Santa Anita Handicap (G1), 2007 Goodwood Handicap (G1) and 2008 Oaklawn Park Handicap (G1), AFTER MARKET,  winner of the 2007 Charles Whittingham Memorial (G1) and 2007 Eddie Read Handicap (G1), TARLOW, winner of the 2005 Santa Margarita Handicap (G1), HOLLYWOOD STORY, winner of the 2003 Holllywood Startlet (G1) and 2006 Vanity Handicap (G1), MANISTIQUE, winner of the 1998 Vanity Handicap (G1), Santa Margarita Handicap (G1) and Santa Maria Handicap (G1),  , and BERTRANDO, winner of the 1991 Norfolk Stakes (G1), 1993 Pacific Classic (G1) and 1993 Woodward Stakes (G1) and in addition he 1993 Champion Older Male.
